Department Diversity Committee

The Department Diversity Committee (DDC) initiative began in the County in 2014 with six pilot departments and was expanded over a period of three years to all county departments, including Human Resources. A DDC is a group of enthusiastic employees that work together to promote diversity and inclusion in their department.

HR – DDC Vision Statement:

We envision Human Resources as a department that values and promotes an inclusive workforce as diverse as the population it serves, where varying cultures are reflected in the practices, participation, and ideas of employees across all levels of the organization.

HR – DDC Mission Statement:

Human Resources Department Diversity Committee (HR DDC) is dedicated to attracting, developing, and retaining a diverse workforce that has equal opportunity to excel. The HR DDC promotes an environment of inclusion that embraces awareness and respect for differences among people while empowering each person to share unique strengths, talents and values.

What Is Diversity?

Diversity is a collection of individual differences and attributes.  It encompasses all that makes us unique such as national origin, ethnicity, disability, religion, gender, communication style, and learning style.

What Is Inclusion?

Inclusion is a culture that connects each employee to the organization.  It encourages collaboration, flexibility, and fairness.  It leverages diversity throughout the organization so that all individuals are able to participate and contribute to their full potential.
